Shreveport, LA — The 2009 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl
is the highest-rated and most-viewed bowl game ever broadcast on ESPN2.
The game, played on December 28th, featured the University of Georgia Bulldogs defeating the Texas A&M Aggies 44–20. The matchup of two programs with rich histories garnered a 2.4 television rating. This marked the highest rating for the Independence Bowl since 2006 when Oklahoma State defeated Alabama 34–31. That game achieved a 3.0 rating on ESPN.
The 2009 game was also a sellout at 49,654. This marked the first sellout since 2003 when Arkansas defeated Missouri 27–14 with an announced attendance of 49,625.
